Mid-Term Assignment due 12/19/11

Hey Jr. Publisher: It's hard to believe that 2011 is almost over! We've had a great year!! You are a creative and talented group of students! It has been my privilege to be your instructor!!!


Beginning this week: You will be working on your Mid-Term Presentation which is due Monday, 12/19/11.


Titled: Mid-Term 2011


Your presentation will need to include:

1. Read a Cover Story article found in News Week or Time Magazine's web-site this week. Research the situation and then write a three paragrah article describing the situation (do not cut and paste) from a Biblical world view. (A Christian's perspective) Include (5) pics that relate to the topic.

2. Write a three paragraph essay/summary on one of the books on the NYTimes Best Seller's List. (do not cut/paste.) (Clear Intro, Body, Conclusion!) Include a copy of the book's cover.

3. Create a Glog on the author of this book (Include related pics, biograpical info, education, other works written, etc.) You should have at least six (6) links.
(i.e. author's web-site, the publisher's web-site, interview with the author found on you-tube or publisher's site, topic related articles, etc.)

4. American Museum of Natural History
1) Find 3 articles that interest you on http://www.amnh.org/ology/
2) Locate and Read three articles that interest you.
3) Create the 5 W's and H for each of your stories.

Pick your favorite author and create a glog about them, their works, famous quotes, publishers, related websites, etc.

Add pics and links on each pic, videos, animation, etc. to make this an interactive adventure!!!

Blog Assignment #22 / Teen News

Hey Jr. Publishers:

Go to www.2theadvocate.com and click on the Feature tab. On this tab is a section called Teens/kids.

Read the articles and choose three of them to write a (5-7 sentence) paragraph on each one of them. Why did you choose the individual article? What made it interesting for you? Was the author's style of writing easy to read?

Blog Assignment 21 / Word

Hey Jr. Publisher:

It is important to understand how to use Word.
12 point / Times New Roman / Double spaced.

You will have a creative writing assignment. Write/Type a one and 1/2 page fairy tale in your own words.

Once it is typed, I want you to "insert" five (5) pictures from Clip Art and five (5) from Google.com Images that best show your story's basic elements.

Note: Don't forget to save the google images first to the desktop before inserting them to your document.

Save your document to the desktop and email it to me for review.

1. Find 10 pictures that portray America's past (pick what you feel are the biggest moments in America's history - people, places, or things). Post these pictures to your blog. Write a paragraph (5-7 sentences) summary on America's past (in your own words). Post to blog.


2. Find 10 pictures that portray America's present (pick what you feel are the biggest things going on in our nation right now - people, places, or things). Post these pictures to your blog. Write a paragraph (5-7 sentences) summary on America's present. Post to blog.


3. Find 10 pictures that portray America's future (where do you think we're headed? show me in pictures - people, places, or things). Post these pictures to your blog. Write a 1 paragraph summary on America's future. Where do you think we're headed? Post to blog.

Remember: You must save the pics to the desktop first then pull them over into your blog!!!
